GLOBAL PALATE WOMEN in MEDICINE & HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP
The Global Palate Education Fund provides financial support to Liberian women pursuing education and professional training that directly prepares them for careers in medicine and healthcare.
We believe talented Liberian women should not be prevented from becoming healthcare professionals because they cannot afford the essential costs of their education. Our scholarships help address practical barriers such as tuition, textbooks, transportation, examination fees, clinical supplies, and other required educational expenses.
Who We Support
The scholarship is intended for Liberian women who have been accepted into, or are actively enrolled in, a formal professional healthcare program that directly leads to a professional degree, license, or recognized healthcare credential.
Eligible programs may include:
Medicine (MD/MBBS or equivalent) — including medical schools in Liberia, Africa, Europe, or elsewhere
Physician Assistant programs — including qualifying undergraduate PA programs where applicable
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) pathways and qualifying dietetics programs
Nursing programs that directly lead to professional nursing licensure
Pharmacy (PharmD)
Dentistry (DDS/DMD or equivalent)
Physical Therapy (DPT or equivalent)
Other healthcare professional programs that directly prepare students for professional practice
What We Do Not Fund
The scholarship is not intended for general undergraduate education, pre-medical studies, or prerequisite coursework that does not itself lead directly to a professional healthcare degree or credential.
For example, a student completing a general bachelor's degree while planning to attend medical school later would not qualify solely on the basis of being “pre-med.” However, a student already enrolled in a medical degree program would be eligible to apply. The goal is to support students who have reached the professional training stage of their healthcare journey, rather than broadly funding undergraduate education.
Where the Scholarship Can Be Used
The Global Palate Education Fund supports professional healthcare education both within Liberia and internationally.
Our immediate goal is to help remove financial barriers for qualified scholars studying in Liberia, including expenses such as:
Tuition
Textbooks and required academic materials
Transportation
Examination and academic fees
Clinical uniforms and supplies
Other required educational expenses
As the fund grows, we hope to extend that support to qualified Liberian women pursuing professional healthcare education outside Liberia, including medical and other healthcare professional programs in countries where appropriate programs and opportunities exist.
The destination may change. The mission does not.
Whether a scholar is studying medicine in Liberia, pursuing a professional healthcare program elsewhere in Africa, or eventually receiving advanced professional training in Europe or another part of the world, the purpose remains the same: to help a Liberian woman become a healthcare professional equipped to serve and lead.

A scholarship doesn't have to pay for an entire education to change a life. Sometimes, it simply has to remove the financial barrier standing between a qualified student and her next step toward becoming a healthcare professional.
Eventually as the Global Palate Education Fund grows, so will our reach.
Today, that may mean helping a medical student in Liberia pay tuition or purchase textbooks. Tomorrow, it may mean helping a qualified Liberian woman access a professional program abroad that is not available to her at home.
We are building the bridge one scholar at a time.

Tax Status Notice
The Global Palate Education Fund is a nonprofit organization currently applying for approval of its 501(c)(3) status from the US Internal Revenue Service.
We are actively operating in furtherance of our mission to fund domestic and international medical education opportunities for women in underserved communities, particularly Liberia.
Donations made during this period support our programs directly. While contributions may not yet be tax-deductible, we will notify all donors immediately upon receiving IRS determination, at which point donations may become deductible to the extent allowed by law.
